Most of buildings older than 20 years contain asbestos.

In the long-term:

  • chest, abdominal and lung cancer

  • lung diseases

  • scarring of the lung tissue 


About asbestos 

Asbestos Asbestos is a mineral fiber that has been used in building construction materials. Due to legal restrictions the use of asbestos has been limited and is now mostly found in older homes, in furnace insulation materials, textured paints or floor tiles. Concentrations of asbestos are increased if these asbestos-containing materials are removed improperly.

The exposure to asbestos does not have any immediate effects, but long-term risk of chest and abdominal cancers, lung diseases and lung cancer especially for smokers.
